VOICES OF ROCK VOLUME ONE. BKSCD 1002

A narrated interview CD featuring interviews with Van Halen, Deep Purple, ELO, Ozzy Osbourne, The Alan Parsons Project, Ginger Baker and Elton John. Duration 60 mins.

In Volume One:

DAVID LEE ROTH and ALEX VAN HALEN tell us how VAN HALEN formed.

JON LORD and IAN PAICE tell us what DEEP PURPLE were doing living in a cheap flat above a Greek Restaurant in London when their single 'Hush' was riding high in the American Top Ten - and how WOMAN FROM TOKYO became an unbelievably expensive track to record.

BEV BEVAN tells us how THE MOVE's classic song FLOWERS IN THE RAIN never earned them a penny after they were sued by then British Prime Minister Harold Wilson after a publicity stunt backfired. He also tells us how JEFF LYNNE joined THE MOVE in its final days before they eventually disbanded to form the world-shattering ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA.

GINGER BAKER tells how he first met ERIC CLAPTON and later joined forces with him and JACK BRUCE to form the world's first supergroup CREAM and he recalls the incredible speed at which the band gained massive worldwide success.

ALAN PARSONS and ERIC WOOLFSON explain how their partnership began as a client to manager relationship after Alan had engineered DARK SIDE OF THE MOON for PINK FLOYD, worked on ABBEY ROAD with THE BEATLES and produced classic hit singles 'YEAR OF THE CAT' for AL STEWARTand 'MUSIC' for JOHN MILES along with a string of hits for STEVE HARLEY AND COCKNEY REBEL and how THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT then went on to sell tens of millions of albums worldwide.

OZZY OSBOURNE tells, amongst other things and in his usual frank and enthusiastic style, why he quit BLACK SABBATH to form BLIZZARD OF OZ and why you should always read the small print on recording contracts !

ELTON JOHN tells us how he wrote 'DON'T GO BREAKING MY HEART' during a recording studio breakdown and about his then controversial dumping of long-time songwriting partner BERNIE TAUPIN in favour of GARY OSBORNE to write the album 'A SINGLE MAN'.

VOICES OF ROCK VOLUME ONE is the first in a collectable series of C.D.'s which will build into an audio encylopedia of rock.

During the 1970's and 1980's broadcaster Mick Wright had the opportunity to interview many well known artists. On this hour-long CD he has taken extracts from his interviews with the artists listed above and linked them together with his own narrative. It gives a fascinating insight into the music business and some of its legends. Here the artists tell their own true stories in their own words. The material is all broadcast quality and has been digitally mastered.

REVIEWS

'An interesting narrated CD and one that is highly recommended. You will learn things you certainly didn't know'.
Martin Hudson - The Classic Rock Society

'This is a fascinating concept. Recorded interviews of musicians discussing their music, the music business and histories of their respective groups. These interviews promise to become valuable historical documents over time.'
John Collinge - Progression magazine

'Even though I don't know my Black Sabbath from my Deep Purple this CD was surprisingly interesting'.
Katrina Giles - Where's Eric! (Eric Clapton Fanzine)

'Fascinating. Compiled by long-serving and highly knowledgeable West Midlands radio presenter Mick Wright from interviews he recorded in the 70's and 80's. Quality recordings rather than the usual fuzzy poor interview disc rubbish.'
Mike Davies - Brumbeat Magazine

'From the mid-70's to the mid-80's Wright had the good fortune to interview many high-profile artists for radio. This CD is aimed specifically at the fan who wishes to hear more from artists in their own words'.
Chris Meloche - Detroit Metro Times

BENNY ANDERSSON IN CONVERSATION BKSCD 1001

A studio quality interview with ABBA's Benny Andersson. This interview was recorded at Bingley Hall, Stafford on 12th November 1978. Originally intended for radio broadcast it is significant because after ABBA's two appearances at Bingley Hall they played further dates in Dublin and Glasgow and never toured Europe again. Although nobody outside the ABBA camp knew that the band were coming off the road, it seems obvious from what Benny says here that the decision had already been taken.

Points covered in the interview include the formation and naming of the band, winning the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton in 1974 with Waterloo, the unsuccessful follow-up singles Ring Ring and I Do, I Do, I Do, Benny and Bjorn's songwiting partnership and ABBA's general dislike of touring.

The interview lasts around 15 minutes and is digitally mastered and broadcast quality. The packaging includes a 4" x 4" colour photograph of Benny Andersson taken on the night of the interview. (Previously unpublished).
